For those that live in the Southern U.S., the iconic Red Man Indian is a well known sight. Red Man has actually been called the most recognized brand in America and it’s due to the method of advertising that early marketers for Pinkerton used; barn painting! Back in the early 1900’s, companies made use of the thousands of barns found throughout rural America by painting their ads on the sides, and often roofs, on them. This not only benefited the companies but benefited the farmers as well because they got the barns painted for free each year but, enough about the barns it’s the tobacco companies, specifically Red Man, that really benefitted. |
